Dietitians from Holland found out that the strong food smell makes a person to do smaller bites, what lets them feel full with less amount of food and slim faster.
The study group under the direction of doctor Rene de Vijk made an experiment, during which the volunteers tried cream desert, at the same time smelling different smells.
It turned out that the stronger the smell is the less was the amount of eaten food. At the same time the inhaled smell influenced not only on the size of current bite, but also on the following.
The scientists explain that a small bite is usually made, when we need to chew the product longer. As a result a person feels full faster.
Thereby the strengthening of dishes smell can lead to the decrease of food consumption on 5-10%.
The scientists consider that for this diet such strong smells as bloater or garlic can be used.

Substancial breakfast provides us with energy for completing all daily tasks, assists to correct brain work, fastens the metabolism. All these points are important for slimming and keeping healthy weight. It’s too good to be true, but we have amazing news for sweets lovers – you can forget about the restrictions and eat a chocolate cake for breakfast.
Morning is the best time for consuming sweets due to the research of scientists from Tel Aviv University. During this time the metabolism is very fast and all exessive calories are burnt. Moreover, if you eat a piece of chocolate cake or several chocolate cookies, which contain enough proteins and carbohydrates, you may not have a thirst for sweets in the evening.
The research was made this way: the scientists invited 193 overweight people, not suffering from diabetis, and divided them into two groups. The first group was given low carbohydrate breakfast (300 calories), the second – balanced breakfast (600 calories) with chocolate cake or dessert. The research lasted for 32 weeks. After 16 weeks both groups of participants lost in average 15 kilos each. But after more 16 weeks those who kept low carbohydrate diet restored 10 kilos. However cake-lovers lost more 7 kilos. All in all after 32 weeks of research the participants from the second group lost in average 40 kilos more than the participants from the first group.
Both groups consumed daily the same amount of calories (men – 1600, women – 1400). However the participants of “300 calories for breakfast” group felt less satisfied after meal and, as it turned out, lied to scientists and ate cakes during the day. The conclusion is that the restriction in sweets can provoke a psycological dependence on them. So eat sweets, but only in the morning!
